Kaiako Digital Kete: Aotearoa New Zealand History Curriculum Resources

These Kete consist of a series of online teaching resources based on the rich stories of Tāmaki Makaurau. They have been developed by researchers at Waipapa Taumata Rau, the University of Auckland, in relationship with secondary school teachers and librarians to provide support for Kaiako and teachers to teach the Aotearoa New Zealand History Curriculum. Each Kete includes the story of a chosen topic along with learning aims and multiple in-class activities developed from the primary sources collected from libraries, archives, and museums in Auckland. Topics include Auckland’s role in the New Zealand Wars, local green spaces, immigrant communities, transportation and so much more…We hope these stories will serve to inspire a passion for learning the history of our wonderful city, Tāmaki Makaurau, amongst our new generation of scholars and citizens.
